In both cases, the water must be cleaned of suspended matter, particularly deposits containing corrosion debris from pipes in poor condition, often iron-based.

• Washing water

City water containing less than 25 ppm chlorine ions can be used, while the most corrosion-resistant steels can accept less stringent limits.

• Test water

Where interior access is possible and complete drying can be achieved, the water described above can be used.

Where access is not possible, demineralized water or water neutralized to a minimum pH of 7 with corrosion inhibitor should be used.
