1. Introduction to flexural beam modeling
The previous model takes into account the bending of the connection by considering that the beam concerned by the bending deformation is a solid of neutral axis parallel to the bolt axis. This is consistent with the representation of assemblies of parts whose thickness is large compared with their other dimensions (e.g. the connection of two parts of a connecting-rod bearing). For many common assemblies, the thickness of the parts remains small in relation to their length and/or the value of the load eccentricity.
