3. Transitional regimes
Every transient regime is limited in time by two permanent regimes. The one before it characterizes the initial conditions from which the transient will develop. The one following it may represent other initial conditions for a subsequent transient. From this point of view, a transient regime "connects" two distinct permanent regimes. For example, the initial conditions for braking are characterized by the state of the system as defined by a forced vibration study. As we shall see in the example, for a start-up, the initial state of the system is represented by the deformation imposed by the static loading existing at the start of the start-up.
