8. Decommissioning/ reform/ degraded operation
8.1 Shutdown
Equipment is considered to be defective or doubtful as soon as its use constitutes a potential risk to the quality of analyses, tests or calibrations. Defective or doubtful equipment is marked with a specific identification (e.g. a red label) to show that it cannot be used.
The material is then either :
repaired, checked and put back into service;
downgraded, i.e. used for a new manipulation requiring less effective metrological characteristics. Downgrading may require recalibration;
reformed and withdrawn from the laboratory.
