1. Using the heating elements

Understanding the radiative transfers between a heating element and the walls of a furnace, or the load processed in a furnace, is essential to establish the link between the thermal power dissipated and the temperature of the element. After all, it's the temperature of the resistor that determines its service life, and not, as is usually said, the surface power dissipated.

1.1 Heat transfer

A heating element or resistor is a conductor in which electrical power is transformed into heat by the Joule effect, according to the equation :

P = R I 2 = U 2 /R
