Figure 4 shows the most common general structure. It is that of a variable speed drive with two cascaded loops. It shows the two power units (the motor and the static converter with its control electronics), the two sensors (current and speed) and the two regulators (current and speed).

In this structure, the output voltage of the speed controller (V _b ) serves as a reference for the current controller. It is the image of the desired current (and torque).
