The aim of this section is to provide analytical tools for the electromagnetic pre-dimensioning of synchronous and asynchronous magnetic couplings. For a given specification, the aim is to be able to quickly define the main geometric dimensions and make a reasoned choice of materials.

For a synchronous coupling, this specification may be limited to the value of the maximum transmissible torque C _max to be achieved, while respecting set objectives such as coupling mass, external dimensions or cost price. For an asynchronous coupling, the aim is to define the slope of the torque-speed characteristic in the low-slip zone (3)...
