2. Network constraints
The power grid is a key element between production and consumption. It is considered a critical infrastructure, since electricity is so essential, indeed vital, to our society. The cost of losing all or part of a network is considerable, and the burden of network investment is very heavy. Given the widespread interconnection between countries, electricity grids represent the largest systems ever built by man. The introduction of a new device is studied very carefully, and its reliability must be very high in particular.
