1. Critical temperature and resistivity
The critical temperature (T
c
) is the temperature at which the material's electrical resistivity falls below any measurable value (figure

). Paradoxically, the resistivity of the material in its normal state above the critical temperature can be relatively high.
Example
for YBaCuO (YBa
2
Cu
3
O
7-δ
), normal-state resistivity reaches 100 to 10,000 times that of copper at 100 K.
