Knowledge of the laws and regulations that underpin the relationship between distributor and producer for the connection and operation of decentralized generation facilities is now essential for engineers in charge of connection studies.
It should be noted here that the term distributor applies not only to ERDF, France's main distributor, but also to all 170 ELDs (local distribution companies, also known as DNNs, non-nationalized distributors) scattered across mainland France.
When it comes to decentralized generation, French distributors consider that there have been two periods: before and after Law 2000-108 of February 10, 2000 (Law on the modernization and development of the public electricity service, also known as the Electricity Market Opening Law).
