Electrical Installations. Regulation and Structure

This article is part of a series dealing with all the common problems encountered when designing and building industrial and tertiary electrical installations. A special article [D5049] deals with low-voltage connection installations, which are covered by standard NF C 14-100.

This article deals with :

• rules common to all industrial and tertiary electrical installations in terms of regulations and standards;

• principles for checking installations ;

• determining the characteristics of the installation, nominal voltage, frequency, circuit operating current, etc;

• installation structure, location of electrical service rooms, power sources, distribution diagrams.

The initial draft was prepared by Roland Auber, former chief engineer at FFIE, and Claude Remond, former chief engineer at UTE. An initial update was carried out in 2005.

In this first article, we look at the regulatory and structural aspects of electrical installations.
