1. The benefits of live working
In the early 1960s, 50% of service interruptions were due to operating incidents and 50% to work-related shutdowns. Continuity of service became a growing concern for Électricité de France (EdF) as French society became increasingly dependent on electricity.
There are many reasons for the introduction of live working in France:
safety issues. We need to reduce the number of accidents;
economic stake for the community. Continuity of service must be ensured;
social issue. We have to make sure that operators work during working hours.
