CO₂ capture, combined with geological storage, is a technology that is fully in line with the objectives of reducing greenhouse gas emissions limiting global warming. In its 2014 report , the IPCC considers that, without the use of CCS, achieving the target of 450 ppm CO_2eq in the atmosphere corresponding to an increase of 2°C by 2100 will require considerable effort, or even, depending on the modeling tools considered, will not be possible.
