The configuration of combustion turbines has evolved. Aeronautical machines tend to be of the aeroderivative type, while the most powerful, used for land-based applications, are of the heavy-duty type.
These machines are derived from aeronautical techniques. The combustion chambers are integrated into an assembly known as a gas generator.
