5. When should you get started, and what about ISO 50005:2021?
Throughout this document, we have referred to both ISO 50001:2011 and ISO 50001:2018. ISO 50001:2018 is a revision of the previous standard, emphasizing key points such as:
roles, responsibilities, and authorities;
consultation and participation of employees;
actions in response to risks and opportunities;
operational planning and control;
monitoring, analysis, measurement, and evaluation.
These new developments have a significant impact on companies' compliance.
The 2018 version of the standard was published on August 21, 2018. Already certified entities have until August 31, 2021 to transition from the 2011 version to the 2018 version.
