1. Conduct a Regulatory and Strategic Assessment (Fit for 55)

The Fit for 55 package aims to reduce the European Union’s net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. To achieve this goal, the European Union has strengthened several regulations: the Emissions Trading System (ETS), the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy taxation, decarbonized mobility, and climate reporting requirements. For an industrial or energy company, conducting this assessment is a highly strategic undertaking, though somewhat time-consuming. Here is a list of operational tasks, organized by major phases, to successfully carry out this assessment without a dedicated CSR department.
