Limiting air infiltration in buildings (regulatory aspects)

It applies to the construction, renovation or extension of single-family homes, new buildings, commercial buildings and multi-family housing.

Blower door or air permeability testing is mandatory for BBC (low-energy building) certification, for new construction and renovation under RT2012 thermal regulations. Air permeability tests are compulsory for all residential buildings (collective or individual).

Since 2021, all new buildings have been required to obtain a certificate proving that the airtightness test has been carried out and that the result complies with standards.
