3.1 Hermetic solid sorption systems
For air-conditioning purposes, commercial systems use water as the refrigerant and silica gel or zeolite as the adsorbent. An essential difference between adsorption and liquid absorption systems is that the solid cannot circulate as the solution does for absorption.
