7. Conclusion
We have seen that halogenated hybrid perovskites possess remarkable optical and electronic properties. These materials are highly modular, and their bandgap width can be adjusted by varying their composition. The photo-generated charges in these materials are highly mobile. They can be collected by injection into adjacent phases that act as selective contacts. These contacts must have appropriate energy levels, allowing for charge separation and limiting unwanted recombination phenomena. The high charge mobility also allows for the use of relatively thick layers—a few hundred nanometers—which exhibit good absorption of sunlight.
From a chemical standpoint, we have seen that these compounds are relatively easy to prepare in a well-crystallized form from solutions at moderate temperatures. High-quality layers can be synthesized from precursor solutions, and various strategies have been described...
