1. Properties of Hybrid Perovskites
The term “perovskite” originally referred to the mineral CaTiO3 (calcium titanate), which was first described in 1839 by the German mineralogist Gustav Rose and named after the Russian mineralogist Lev Alexeyevich Perovski. Since then, it has come to denote the corresponding crystal structure with the general formula ABC3. At the end of the 19th century, new perovskites were synthesized with the formula ABX3, where X is a halide—Cl–, Br–, or I– —with A being Cs+ and B being Pb2+. Their crystal structure was not determined until 1957 by Christian Moller
