2. Solar cells based on hybrid perovskites
In these cells, electrons and holes (electron deficiencies) are generated in the absorber layer when irradiated with photons of sufficient energy. These charges must be separated and collected. On an insulating substrate, these charges will recombine, generating photons with energy lower than that of the incident photons (photoluminescence) and heat (non-radiative recombination). Charge separation is achieved through selective contacts formed by two other adjacent phases, whose energy levels are compatible with those of the absorber. The absorber is thus sandwiched between two other phases (Figure6).
