Ore from the Kirka deposit in Turkey is essentially composed of tincal associated with a gangue whose major phases are dolomite and montmorillonite, and minor phases are gypsum, celestine, calcite, orpiment and realgar; illite and chlorite are accessory phases.

The ore extracted from the quarry first passes through a 400 × 400 mm grizzly (fixed bar screen) and feeds into a storage hopper. It is then taken for two-stage crushing, first to 100 mm in an impact crusher, then to 25 mm in a hammer crusher. The outlet from the secondary hammer crusher feeds a screen that cuts to a 6 mm mesh, and the reject at this mesh is taken up by a roller crusher that works in a closed circuit with the previous screen.
