2. Force feedback interfaces
The purpose of force feedback interfaces is not only to apply forces to the body, but also, in practice, to measure the position of the part of the body on which they act.
Force feedback interfaces are therefore sensory-motor interfaces. The body part concerned by these interfaces is very often the hand or the entire upper limb, with the exception of pedestrian force feedback interfaces for simulating vehicle pedals, bicycles, etc.
Example
The user on a bicycle pedals forward in a virtual environment and receives feedback from the crankset.
