6. Perspectives
Today, tilting technology is present in Europe (mainly in Italy,
Switzerland, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, but also in Portugal,
Austria, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Slovenia), US, Canada
and Japan. Unfortunately, this strong geographical dispersion does
not mean that tilting trains enjoy a strong market position. Today,
tilting trains no longer have the popularity seen previously, but
could enjoy a local renaissance in the years to come.
The 1970s and 1980s saw the genesis of Very High Speed (VHS) trains.
However, this is only accessible through the construction of very
