6. Conclusion
The physical reality of dynamic phenomena is often highly complex, which leads to a number of simplifications in the modeling process, despite the exponential growth in computing resources. Taking account of damping, the random nature of loads (particularly seismic loads), the definition of material behavior laws, etc., are indeed tricky problems to solve, and in the end are often circumvented through numerous simplifications.
So, in the vast majority of cases, all that is required of the calculation results is a reasonably conservative approximation, in order to be on the safe side without excessively oversizing the structures. To this end, calculations are usually carried out in the elastic domain of materials, for which the behavior is considered to be perfectly linear, allowing resolution on the basis of the structure's eigenmodes.
