4. Pseudo-static analysis

4.1 Objective

The aim here is to convert a dynamic problem into an equivalent static problem, a technique that allows quick and easy calculations.

The engineer must be careful not to produce a calculation that underestimates structural risks. To this end, the dynamic amplification selected must be determined with care. It is important to differentiate whether this "dynamic → static" conversion is based on a time load, or a spectrum.
