Although still in the realm of academic research, it is likely that metal nanoparticles will experience an industrial boom in the future due to their potential to unify homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, enabling the catalysis of sophisticated reactions with practical advantages such as recycling and compatibility with millifluidics .

These advantages can also be combined with the principles of sustainable chemistry and sustainable engineering through the use of abundant metals (Fe, Cu, etc.) that are not specifically toxic, such as heavy metals...
