2. Cumulene-type compounds

Going beyond the metal-carbon double bond, the synthesis of carbene complexes containing consecutive cumulene-type double bonds has been achieved. The starting point is an alkyne ligand HCCR whose terminal hydrogen atom is stripped off to make an acetylide ligand (figure 12 ).
