Clearly, the organization of collective traceability is complicated. It presupposes methodical organization of the sector concerned, prior consultation, a system adapted to the needs and constraints of each individual, and individual discipline on the part of all participants in the system. As this is still a new approach, one of the first difficulties is that the promoters of technical solutions and potential users are unfamiliar with each other. What's more, many operators in the food industry have only a partial knowledge of existing standards, and of the technical documents from various sources that are nevertheless available (cf. To find out more ). Furthermore, the implementation of traceability raises the broader question of the relationship between regulatory requirements and voluntary initiatives by the industry.
