1.1 Tolerancing terminology

• Definition drawing

  A definition drawing describes the part completely and unambiguously. It is a contractual document between customer and supplier.

  Today, with 3D CAD software, the definition drawing is a digital model that describes the nominal shape of the part and the 3D dimensioning established according to ISO standards. Additional geometric dimensioning elements, such as partial zone outlines, location elements and annotation plans, are attached to the nominal model.
