2. Ambient conditions, movement and load

2.1 Atmosphere

We distinguish between :

  • the vacuum ;

  • gas environment: lubrication prohibited or lubrication permitted, with low, normal and high temperatures for each case;

  • liquid atmosphere without surface lubricating properties, e.g. water or petrol;

  • the crankcase environment forms an oil reservoir, allowing all forms of lubrication - splash, oil bath or pressure - to be carried out without complication;

  • the purpose-built housing bearing.

For greater clarity, we'll refer to these moods by the following numbers.
