6. Conclusion

The integration of the precautionary principle is not simply a matter of adding risk provisions, it's a cultural and industrial evolution. The precautionary principle cannot be ignored. The concept of precautionary action or "precautics" is the basis of quality-safety-environment management, the cornerstone of any sustainable development strategy. This trend towards integrating management systems into engineering is already leading to a harmonization of reference systems and development logics. This augurs well for studies in what is emerging as a new discipline: comparative engineering.
