Figure 1 shows the flow diagram of the batch plant for recombinant protein production.

This workshop comprises eight stages: the first stage is fermentation, followed by seven separation stages. Two of the products are therapeutic proteins, human insulin and hepatitis B vaccine. The other two are a food-grade protein, chymosin, and an enzyme used as a detergent, cryophylic protease.
