4. Challenges and prospects

Despite the exponential development of platforms and associated research, a number of technological and scientific obstacles remain, which, by limiting the performance of current devices, are partly responsible for their limited use in real-life applications.

Obviously, the question of control and energy on-boarding is an issue for some exoskeleton applications, but it remains a generic problem for all embedded and nomadic devices, which naturally benefit from significant industry attention and are therefore making constant progress, particularly where electric batteries are concerned. However, beyond this aspect alone, the design of an exoskeleton poses several specific problems.
