1. Definition

RFID middleware, or RFID software system infrastructure, is the software gateway for services between RFID technology and the company's information system.

It enables :

  • communicate with RFID devices and RFID-connected objects, i.e. those equipped with RFID tags;

  • share RFID-based methods that have enabled the creation of new business processes: automatic identification, unitary and secure identification of objects, simultaneous identification of a large number of objects, direct read/write access to the user memory of the RFID tag associated with the objects;

  • make available information linked to the traceability of objects and processes, i.e. an identifier, timestamp, location and the reason for its presence, so as to create...
