2. Roles

When deploying RFID systems, the role of RFID middleware is to ensure the seamless integration of RFID technology into the information system. The mandatory modules are responsible for :

  • provide an operational and management interface with RFID readers;

  • provide read/write access procedures to data stored in tags;

  • format data for writing to RFID tags;

  • collect, filter, aggregate and format RFID events from tags for transmission to business applications;

  • communicate with enterprise software ;

  • use standards to make RFID systems interoperable.
