1.1 The context: renovation in France

The vast majority of France's real estate portfolio is made up of existing structures and equipment, despite renewed targets for new construction every year.

In 2019, the FFB estimated that the French building and civil engineering market would account for some 140 billion euros of activity, more than half of which concerned renovation projects (79 billion euros), and a large proportion of which concerned housing renovation (46 billion euros) .
