5. Conclusion

The crimping of metal cans is a mechanical operation designed to assemble the lid or base to the body of a can. The purpose of the crimp is to close the container after filling, and thus seal the can to prevent subsequent recontamination, particularly microbiological recontamination.

Set-up operations on crimping machines require experience on the part of the setting operators, taking into account the specific features of crimping machines and cans.

  • in-depth knowledge of the techniques used ;

  • metrologically tested equipment for accurate measurements;
