Techno-centric packaging - anthropo-centric packaging: a series of paradoxes

Packaging must therefore respond to the schizophrenia of consumers who want everything and its opposite, and with this in mind must overcome a series of paradoxes concerning weight, duration, number, presentation, technology, safety and cost.

• Weight. In the industrialized countries – a billion inhabitants – the 150 to 250 kg of packaging used per person per year, causes environmental damage which leads us to limit the weight.

  On the other hand, in emerging and developing countries – five billion inhabitants – insufficient packaging leads to loss and deterioration of products, seriously affecting the survival of populations.

• Durability. To guarantee hygiene, preservation and conservation, packaging must be solid, watertight, impermeable, resistant and long-lasting....
