1. Risk analysis

1.1 Mechanical environmental stress

The mechanical stresses to which the equipment is subjected must be known for the entire supply chain, i.e. from the time the equipment is manufactured right through to its first use. This analysis is justified by the fact that the risk of mechanical stress is much greater for unpackaged equipment. In the pre- and post-packaging phase, the industrial packer can usefully advise his customer to reduce damage, which can then be attributed to him. Moreover, the mechanical stresses to which packaged materials are subjected are extremely varied [14] ; they take the form of random phenomena.
