8. Skin packaging
Skin packaging or skin wrapping involves wrapping a more or less complex object in a shrink-wrapped polyethylene envelope or sleeve that is already fairly close in shape to the object, then heat-shrinking the plastic film so that it hugs the object tightly and completely, protecting it from any external contact.
In practice, all solid food products (hams, sausages, cuts of meat) and objects can be packaged in this way, provided they can withstand the modest temperature of the shrink oven.
