Monitoring operational availability

If the availability parameter has become contractual, it is likely to be accompanied by a penalty clause of the type: x% of the price of the equipment, or y euros, per z% of availability not achieved.

Correct follow-up is therefore essential after commissioning.

It goes without saying that the contract must define what will be measured, how it will be measured and to whom it will be attributed (supplier or user).

Assuming this issue has been resolved (see note 2 at the end of this chapter), we now want to know the operational availability to check that it complies with the contractual value.

Clauses such as "Final acceptance of the equipment will be pronounced after verification of availability over a period of two weeks, or one month, or during the warranty year" are common.
