4. Assessing challenges and potential gains

4.1 Issues assessment

To assess the stakes, we need to correctly define the overall cost of maintenance.

It is the sum of several components:

  • direct maintenance costs (internal and external labor + consumption and purchase of parts) ;

  • indirect cost or cost of equipment unavailability ;

  • cost of non-quality attributable to maintenance ;

  • inventory carrying costs.

The actions to be taken to achieve the objectives (and the associated challenges) must be evaluated and prioritized according to the context and environment of each company. The productivity ratios for the following issues...
