3. Challenges and objectives

3.1 Approach

In order to achieve the targets set for equipment availability and reliability, the following three conditions must be met:

• integrate maintenance policy into the company's overall policy ;

• translate this policy into strategy and then into operational tactics through targeted issues, which in turn are translated into valued operational objectives;

• differentiate between maintenance activities and those carried out by the maintenance organization as the company's preferred internal service provider, but which do not meet the definition of maintenance.
