 INTRODUCTION

Operational safety is a generic concept that encompasses the usual notions of reliability, availability, and security.

It can be considered as a property of a system such that its users can place justified trust in the service they expect from it.

Designers must be provided with the information they need to make choices and ensure that the reliability/availability/safety of the device meets user requirements.
