3.1 Superabsorbent polymers

SAP (Superabsorbent Polymers) are cross-linked hydrophilic polymers capable of absorbing very large quantities of water, up to 1,000 times their mass. The use of these superporous hydrogels in the hygiene sector, particularly in baby diapers, is well known . They are also being used in agriculture for water retention and soil hydration
