3. Comparative properties of honeycombs

The majority of honeycomb applications involve :

  • mechanical properties;

  • has their thermal conductivity.

3.1 Mechanical properties

In addition to the nature of the polymer, including its possible cross-linking, the mechanical properties of foams depend on :

  • (apparent) density, which can vary widely, from a few kg/m 3 to around 1,000 kg/m 3 for lightweight polymers;

  • structure: open or closed cells ;

  • any anisotropy.
