2. Sandwich injection

2.1 Principle and applications

The sandwich injection molding process uses a bi-material press and a standard mold to inject a part consisting of a core (or heart) and a skin (or shell) made from two different polymers (figure 27 ) [13][14] .

The two materials can be injected sequentially (material 1/material 2/material 1) or simultaneously (figure 28 ).
