3. Fluid transport

Tubes (single-layer) and hoses (two- or multi-layer, possibly with reinforcement) are an important application for rubber. The expected performances are resistance to pressure, temperature (low or high) and chemicals.

3.1 Domestic applications

These applications concern gas distribution in particular, with very different pressure ratings depending on whether the gas is distributed by urban networks at an operating pressure of 28 mbar, in compliance with NF D 36-103 for double-layer pipes or NF D 36-102 for single-layer pipes, or flexible hoses, in compliance with NF M 88-768 for direct connection (without pressure reducer) of propane or butane cylinders.
