3.1 3D modeling: design rules

Accustomed to subtractive manufacturing and the associated 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, Catia...), designers tend to design parts for machining.

3D printing, whatever the technique or material, offers possibilities that even subtractive manufacturing cannot meet. However, there are a few design rules to be observed (see table 2 ).
